Cairn privacy overview
How Cairn handles waitlist data, local-first app memory, AI processing, cloud services, and user choices.
Overview
Cairn helps users capture recordings, transcripts, project notes, chat messages, tasks, calendar entries, reports, and workflow context. The product is local-first for core app memory, but some features use cloud services and AI providers when users request them.
This page is an implementation-ready privacy overview for Cairn pre-launch. It should be reviewed before broad public launch and before paid subscriptions begin.
Information users provide
Users may provide account information such as name and email, recordings or uploaded audio/video files, transcripts and edited transcript text, project names, notes, reports, todos, calendar entries, settings, chat prompts, assistant messages, attachments, selected memory context, billing plan choices, and support messages.
Local storage
Core app memory is stored locally on the user device using SQLite. Local data may include projects, sessions, transcripts, app settings, chat history, processing jobs, reports, todos, and calendar events. Users are responsible for device-level backups unless cloud sync is later enabled.
AI and cloud processing
When users transcribe audio, clean transcripts, ask the assistant, describe images, generate reports, or request structured outputs, relevant content may be sent to external AI services. Current product guidance identifies Groq for transcription, cleanup, and image understanding, and DeepSeek for chat, structured generation, planning, and reports.
Supabase is used for authentication, account/session handling, edge functions, token status, and billing-related records. Razorpay is used for payment checkout where paid plans are available.
How data is used
Cairn uses data to provide transcription, cleanup, chat, summaries, reports, todos, calendar features, project memory, account authentication, billing, usage limits, support, reliability, safety, and abuse prevention. Cairn should not sell personal data.
User choices
Users choose what to record, upload, transcribe, save, or send to the assistant. Users can edit transcript text before saving. Users can delete local projects or sessions where deletion features exist, and can contact Cairn to request account or waitlist data deletion.
Waitlist data
The waitlist collects contact and workflow information so Cairn can send product updates, onboarding invitations, launch information, and early-access messages. Users can request removal from the waitlist by contacting Cairn.
